Keeping your garden “Organic” and bug free with no chemicals!
Last summer I sold my house and bought a condo! My very helpful real estate agent, Sabrina Zyla, enrolled me in a Preferred Client Club so I started receiving a subscription to At Home with Century 21. The front cover looked very appealing and I love looking through catalogs and magazines for design ideas. In this particular issue there was a lot of great info from Home organization to recipes!
What I was most excited to read about and share with you guys is a small blurb called Bug Off. It list 5 different recipes for natural pesticides and insecticides using ingredients you already have right in your kitchen! The magazine states it got this information from veggiegardener.com so I decided to check it out. I’m glad I did! Many great articles I’m excited to go back and read! Ok time to share the recipes!
To get rid of aphids and whiteflies:
Add a tablespoon of liquid soap to one gallon of water.
To prevent spider mites:
Puree one whole garlic bulb with two cups of water, then strain into a spray bottle. Add more water as needed.
For powdery mildew and fungus:
One gallon of water mixed with three tablespoons of baking soda and one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid.
To get rid of Snails and Slugs:
A shallow saucer of stale beer should do the trick!
To get rid of ants:
Mix ¼ a cup of sugar with ¼ a cup of borax.
I hope you found these as helpful as I have and be sure to check out veggiegardener.com for more great advice on gardening!
